Mage Escape
A downloadable game
This is a short 2D platformer that I made in 10 days for the "Shovel Jam" game jam event. I worked solo on this project with the restriction I put on myself that I had to create any assets used inside this game, without getting any from online. The game is in a "completed" state with 3 short levels to play through. There are some issues that I would go back and fix such as some enemies' collisions counting twice for damage or some weird player physics issues that could be ironed out. And it definitely isn't optimized, but that wasn't the point. However, for the restriction I put on myself and the time alloted to me I am happy with the outcome.
The looping music was composed by a personal friend of mine that decided to remain anonymous.
I also used several tutorials/guides for certain game systems.

I really like the art! The character's movement feels very smooth, and the atmosphere is nice. I agree with the previous review about the camera movement, wall jumping and missing sound effects.
I would also add that taking damage repeatedly happens quite quickly, there could be a slightly longer buffer time after losing a heart until the next one. edit: I just saw that this was a bug you mentioned in your discussion post aha
Good job! Here's my little review.
Needs more sound effects: The music is decent. And I love how you made all the assets yourself. That is very impressive!
The movement is fine but the camera is a bit too slow so when you jump down a pit you have no idea what's coming.
The wall jumping is good but it's very fast and tricky to do. I would slow it down just a tad.
Great work man! Really liked it. Especially the art. The background and general vibe is great.
